About Our Staff

We know that every child is unique and deserves a unique education. Our teachers are passionate about your child’s growth and development. Our low teacher-to-student ratios allow teachers to focus on the individual learning styles and needs of each child in our center. We strive to ensure that your children will be introduced to every aspect of learning in their formative years, so they're prepared for the future.

We are extremely proud of our excellent staff of teachers, director and support staff. We require on-going training for our staff through state classes, orientation videos, in-house training, and other certified professionals in the education field. All of our staff is trained in First Aid and CPR. Also, all our staff are background checked by the FBI. We take great pride and responsibility to keep safe, educate and nurture the children within our care.

Meet Our Team

The Owner/Director - Mrs. Darlene

Mrs. Darlene has over twenty-five years’ experience working with young children and older youth as the director of numerous youth programs and departments in multiple church ministries.  While working as a chemical engineer she also devoted part of her time working with young girls throughout the Greater-Houston Area.  Mrs. Darlene is passionate about quality childcare, in a fun and loving environment, and the development of the local youth. This led to the founding of JanaMarie’s Childcare Center. Mrs. Darlene was born and raised in Port Arthur, Texas. She obtained a degree in Chemical Engineering from Lamar University and moved to Houston, Texas. She worked thirty-plus years in Engineering, Finance, and as a Human Resources Manager—all positions held at the same Fortune 500 company.  Mrs. Darlene has completed State required childcare training courses, including obtaining her director's credentials, as well as childcare courses with a focus on biblical studies.  Mrs. Darlene has three grown sons.  She has three granddaughters (one in high-school and one in college and one infant) and two grandsons (one fifth grader and one in PreK who has been enrolled at JanaMarie's since 18 months).  The name JanaMarie's is based on her grandchildren's names.  Family and faith are important to her as it is also an important foundation for JanaMarie’s Childcare Center.

The Teachers

Mrs. Giena

Mrs. Giena is our center opener and lead Pre-K teacher. She has been teaching for 30 years, primarily in Pre-K. She earned her Child Development Associate in 2001. She loves teaching because she enjoys watching the children learn, grow, and experience different things. She loves to see the excitement on their faces when they accomplish something new. It is a gratifying profession that she enjoys and loves. 

Mrs. Giena and her husband are parents to a set of twin boys. One plays professional football, and the other is an Army Airborne Paratrooper. She is a sports mom and loves attending games. She was fortunate to have her boys with her at school during their youngers years and was grateful for all that they were taught and that they experienced. That is her goal as a teacher, to nurture and provide a fun, loving environment for all of the children in her class.

Ms. Leya

Ms. Leya is a summer floater who supports each class as needed while she is home from college. Ms. Leya is a nursing student with high hopes of becoming a pediatric nurse, as the oldest in her family and oldest cousin of 10, she has had plenty of experience babysitting and helping care for little ones. She loves creating a fun, positive, and caring environment where children can thrive.

Ms. Deszlyn

Ms. Desz is our toddler and two's teacher. inspired by her mother, she has always wanted to work in childcare. she enjoys helping children grow, learning what makes each child unique, and making teaching both fun and meaningful. Ms. Desz has also assisted with gymnastics classes when coaches were absent, giving her additional experience working with children. she is excited to soon become an aunt and looks forward to being part of that special experience. she believes children are the future and is passionate about helping prepare them for their next steps. 

Ms. Claire

Ms. Claire supports our Three's and Four's classes while she is home from college 

Ms. Odalys

Ms. Odalys teaches our Three's and Four's class and serves as our assistant closing manager. She has been taking care of children since high school and is currently majoring in psychology. She has also tutored children in academics specifically reading and math. She has always loved working with children, her reason for going into psychology was to learn about the psychology behind children's development.
